ME VOY POR NECESIDAD, VUELVO POR AMOR.

“Me voy por necesidad, vuelvo por amor”, explores in three pieces, the acts of love that help the truck driver to maintain endurance in his need to return home. The constant tension and danger on the road are an almost imponderable part of driving a cargo truck. The installation creates a space in which that tension is supported by promise, entrustment and camaraderie. The tarp functions as a literal protection and carries the promise of return attached to it in the form of a patch. The swans made of an asphalt mix condense the idea of the trucker merging with the truck and the road. The installation of four swans with a warning light alludes to the moment when, in order to protect themselves from the various dangers of the road, several trucks get together to form a “convoy” and move forward as a collective. Finally, the video shows the ritual of “blessing” the truck before a trip with holy water and a rose, while the tarpaulin with the promise to return and the asphalt swan are placed.
